Galina was born in 1990, in the city of Kiev. Her mother is a social worker and her father an engineer. Although none of Galina’s family members were professional artists per se, both of her grandparents enjoyed drawing. Already during her infancy, Galina demonstrated a keen interest in the fine arts. Remarkably, by age 5 she was accepted into the prestigious National Children's Academy of Arts. Over the course of her short life, Galina has benefited greatly in her talents thanks to her first artistic mentor, Babjuk Adrian Pavlovich.
Currently Galina counts among her favorite artist mentors, Nikolajchuk Natalia Ivanovna, the current Dean of Ukraine’s National Children’s Academy, as well as Nikolajchuk Paul Andreevich and Jarmolenko Galina Pavlovna, two of her teachers. Galina especially expresses the benefits she has achieved from the way Ms. Pavlovna is able to inculcate in students a strong feel for colour.
Galina placed third in both painting and graphic arts amongst her Academy comrades during the course of 2003 and 2004 school years. In another 2003 competition, “My Kiev: The World as Children See It,” Galina placed first for one of her drawings. Recently, she placed first in a competition entitled: “Melody of a Sketch” and also placed first in a 2004 international painting contest: “Austria, as Children see it.”
Galina is yet undecided as to her long term vocation, though she has expressed eclectic artistic interests, including painting and computer graphics design. Whatever artistic medium Galina ultimately chooses for her long term career, she is certain to make a tremendous creative impact! |
